George III was King of Great Britain and Ireland from October 1760 until the union of the two kingdoms on January 1801. He was also King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland until his death in 1820. At first he was dubbed "Farmer George" by satirists, which were seen as attempts to mock his interest in mundane matters rather than politics, but later on it was recognized by his followers for his homely thrift with his son's grandiosity and to portray him as a man of the people. He was one of the few devout and prayerful leaders at the time and made great strides with regard to inserting doctrine into history and politics.
